GLC Full Conference Results
Both guys and girls track teams competed this week at Rocky River at the GLC Conference Meet. Both teams turned in some great performances, and showed there is plenty to be excited about for the future.
Tuesday’s meet was mostly preliminary races with a couple finals. Both boys and girls 4 x 800 m relays took 4th overall, improving on last year’s finishes of 7th and 5th respectively. The boys team is made up of seniors Jake Darby and Shawn Slivka, junior Luke Fulop, and sophomore Nick Schuler. The boys dropped 15 seconds off their season best (8:50.02). The girls team of senior Laura Kolenz, junior Marissa Reid, sophomore Delaney Hancock and freshman Kate Reardon ran 40 seconds faster than any other race this season (11:07.59).
In long jump, freshman Adam Rini and junior captain Bryce Lane jumped their best jumps of the season to finish 3rd and 8th overall respectively.
In girls shot put, junior captain Nicole Sabol and sophomore Elizabeth Desantis-Miller went into the finals ranked 7th and 2nd, but Elizabeth improved on her early throws and finished 4th with a throw of 28’5”, and Nicole was conference champion with a throw of 30’1”.
Thursday’s meet began with a great showing in the 100/110 m hurdles by both teams. Junior Hailey Lawler finished third overall with a time of 16.89 and freshman Kevin McLoughlin finished fourth overall in a time of 17.26. Hailey also finished third in the 300 m hurdles with a time of 52.00.
In the distance races, sophomore Allison Lampert and senior Laura Kolenz had great days. Allison finished 5th in the mile (6:12) and 7th in the 2 mile (13:32), and Laura took 6th in the mile (6:15) and 2 mile (13:25). For the guys, sophomore Nick Schuler finished 6th in the 2 mile with a personal best of 10:50, and senior captain Jake Darby took 8th in the mile with a 4:59.1. Freshman Kate Reardon continued her strong season with a 4th place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:34.
Sarah Sparks finished 8th in long jump. Freshman Adam Rini finished 4th in the high jump and sophomore Liam McCormick jumped a person best of 6’0” to finish second.
The lady throwers continued from their strong first day with Elizabeth Desantis-Miller finishing 4th overall in discus with a throw of 94’2” and Nicole Sabol took 2nd overall with a throw of 100’11”.
In sprints, junior Meaghan Vrabel finished 4th overall in the 200 with a time of 28.81. Meaghan was also part of the 4th place 4x 200m relay and 5th place 4x 400m relay with team members Sarah Sparks, Hailey Lawler and Kate Reardon. For the boys, Charlie Jindra took 7th overall in the open 100m and 8th in the open 200m.

Both Green Wave track teams travel to Bedford this Thursday and Saturday for district competition with the hopes of qualifying for regionals.
