As we come to the end of another year, it’s a good time to reflect.  For our basketball program, 2017 was a tremendous year.  Among the accomplishments:

-Freshman team finishing 2016-2017 20-0 (and JV 17-2)

-Great Lakes Conference Co-Champs

-Starting this year with a 8-0 record

-Currently ranked #19  in Cleveland.com Top 25

-Dwayne Cohill Great Lakes Conference Player of the Year, Division II Northeast Lakes Player of the Year and First Team All Ohio

-Two of last year’s seniors (Sean Hickey and Malique Burton) currently playing college basketball (at Franciscan and Westminster).

-Senior Dwayne Cohill committed to play at the University of Dayton

-Team GPA above 3.6 throughout the calendar year

As a coach, it is sometimes hard in the moment to appreciate the good things that are happening.  It is easy to always be caught up in the next game.  So taking a little time to reflect is a good thing.  I have been blessed to work with such tremendous young men, and all those accomplishments are a credit to them.  Their dedication and effort motivates me to continue to try and improve as a coach.  Their abilities extend far beyond the basketball court and I believe all of them have bright futures in whatever fields they choose.  I am thankful to work with them.

While 2017 was a special year, I am even more excited for 2018.  I believe we have a special team that is determined to exceed the success of last year.  They know the bar has been set high, but they view that as a challenge.  Their challenge is to be their personal best every day.  If they do that, the sky is the limit.  I have complete confidence in their ability to do so, and can’t wait to see what this coming year holds. Happy New Year!
