Holy Name Class of ’67 has a proud tradition.
Al Gizzi explained, “The Brian Neary Award is awarded in honor of Brian Neary who was a lineman on our team who passed away in his mid 40’s. I wanted to come up with some kind of special recognition for a lineman on the current Holy Name football team. I suggested to my classmates/teammates that we give a trophy to a Holy Name lineman who played the most dominant role in the school’s homecoming game. So, every season, several of us will attend the homecoming game; focus on the performance of the Holy Name linemen; and agree on the player who had the best performance. At the end of the game, we gather on the Holy Name sideline, and after the teams shake hands, my teammates and I present the trophy to the awardee. Over the 9 years that we have done this, there are four to seven of us who go to the homecoming game.”
Congratulations to Michael Corrigan who was this year’s recipient during the Homecoming game against Valley Forge.
